Competitive Benefits
When it comes to compensation and benefits, Davenport University offers a comprehensive program that is contemporary and fully competitive. We work hard to ensure that our offerings meet or exceed outside opportunities and meet our employees’ varying needs.
Benefits
Our program covers all the essentials, including medical, dental, vision insurance and a 403 (b).
Medical
Full-time staff members may choose to elect comprehensive medical coverage through either a BCBS PPO or BCBS Traditional plan. Both medical plans provide coverage for: hospital and surgical expenses, emergency medical care, laboratory and x-ray fees, prescription drugs, outpatient surgery, physician office calls and alternatives for in-hospital care. Coverage is effective upon employment. Eligible family members may also be covered. An annual cash credit is available to those who waive their medical coverage.
Dental
Full-time staff members receive dental coverage that provides a benefit for: routine preventative, restorative, prosthodontic, and orthodontic services. Coverage is effective the first day of employment. Eligible family members may also be covered.
Life Insurance
The University provides group term life with accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) coverage to full-time staff members. The basic coverage is equal to one times annual base salary. Coverage is effective upon employment. Staff members may also purchase life insurance coverage for themselves, their spouse and eligible dependents.
Salary Continuation
The University will continue a full time staff member’s regular salary, for a period up to six months (after five years of employment), in the event of an unforeseen medical circumstance that prevents them from working. Full time staff members are eligible for 4 weeks of Salary Continuation after 6 months of service.
Long-Term Disability
The University provides a partial income replacement program for full time staff members in the event that they are unable to work due to a medical condition. Coverage is effective upon employment.
Vision
Staff members are able to purchase vision coverage. Vision coverage provides benefits for exams, frames, lenses, lens options, contact lenses, and disposable contact lenses.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Full-time staff may participate in both a healthcare spending account and a dependent care spending account which allows use of tax-free dollars to pay for eligible health care and dependent care expenses.
Employee Assistance Program
The employee assistance program provides full time employees and their family access to assistance with every day challenges of work and home as well as more serious issues involving emotional and physical well-being.
Retirement
The University provides a 403(b) tax-deferred annuity plan for eligible employees. The University’s contributions are invested through the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association or the College Retirement Equities Fund (TIAA-CREF). Vesting is immediate upon meeting eligibility requirements.
