Information for Military & Veterans
As a member of the Servicemember
Opportunity Colleges (SOC) Consortium, Davenport University will award
credit to members of the military for nontraditional learning activities
through evaluation of military training and experience and recognition of
standardized tests such as DANTES and CLEP. DU is also a participant in the Concurrent
Admissions Program (ConAp), a partnership between colleges and universities
and the Army Recruiting Command.
- You must be enrolled in a degree program at Davenport to receive educational
benefits from the Department of Veterans' Affairs.
- Current soldiers in the Army National Guard are required to file a Request
for Tuition Assistance form. See the National Guard's Virtual
Armory website for more information.
The Veterans' Affairs point of contact on campus will assist you in applying
for benefits, including financial aid, and in obtaining credit for previous
education and military experience. Email

DU’s Commitment to Military and Veterans
Davenport defines active duty as a person serving our country at least one
day per month. DU provides an incredible benefit of 25% - 100% discount as
outlined below. To ensure military related individual receive the benefits
they deserve, re-verification is conducted annually.
Active Duty Discount (Anyone serving in uniform 1 day/month):
25% Military Tuition Discount – or Full Military Discount for servicemembers
with Federal TA – reduces tuition to zero (DU receives $4500/yr from the
student’s branch of service.)
Spouse & Dependent of Active Duty:
25% Military Tuition Discount – (and federal aid – as authorized)
Veteran & Retirees (and their Spouse):
25% Military Tuition Discount – with ID and/or DD Form 214
VA Benefits – as authorized, paid directly to servicemembers (Chap 31 pays
100% to DU)
