Information for Military & Veterans

As a member of the Servicemember Opportunity Colleges (SOC) Consortium, Davenport University will award credit to members of the military for nontraditional learning activities through evaluation of military training and experience and recognition of standardized tests such as DANTES and CLEP. DU is also a participant in the Concurrent Admissions Program (ConAp), a partnership between colleges and universities and the Army Recruiting Command.

  • You must be enrolled in a degree program at Davenport to receive educational benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Active members of all branches of the military may be eligible for Davenport's Military Tuition Scholarship.
  • Current soldiers in the Army National Guard are required to file a Request for Tuition Assistance form. See the National Guard's Virtual Armory website for more information.

The Veterans Affairs point of contact on campus will assist you in applying for benefits, including financial aid, and in obtaining credit for previous education and military experience. Email us with questions, or fill out our Contact Us form to get more information.

If You Used Your VA Benefits at Another Institution

Go to the Education Forms page on the VA website:

  • Select form 22-1995, Request For Change of Program or Place of Training (3 pages)
  • Complete form 22-1995 and fax to (616) 732-1150.  NOTE: You must list the Davenport University address below as your new school (9A):

  • You will receive a Letter of Eligibility from the Veterans Administration
  • Davenport University Certifying Officials will certify your enrollment one month before the start of the semester. Certifications consist of the number of credit hours in which the student is currently enrolled by start and end dates of each session and semester.
  • You must verify your enrollment once a month via the Web Automated Verification of Enrollment (WAVE) on the VA website.
  • The VA will direct-deposit your check or mail it to you.
  • It is your responsibility to make any additional payment arrangements on your tuition bill.
