2008-09 Davenport Institutional Scholarships

Davenport University offers a number of institutional scholarships to help make your education affordable. Before you apply, please read the guidelines below.

Transfer Applicants: Must transfer in a min. of 60 college-level credits AND have a min. 3.50 CGPA from transferring institution. Phi Theta Kappa Members: Min. transfer credits of 60 AND proof of membership in Phi Theta Kappa. BPA State, first place Champion. Submit copy of certificate to financial aid. DECA State, first place Champion. Submit copy of certificate to financial aid. HOSA State, first place Champion. Submit copy of certificate to financial aid. Transfer Students: Must transfer in a min. of 60 college-level credits AND have a min. 3.20 CGPA from transferring institution. BPA (State) Competition Participant, Submit copy of certificate to financial aid. DECA (State) Competition Participant, Submit copy of certificate to financial aid. HOSA (State) Competition Participant, Submit copy of certificate to financial aid. Professional Athlete (and spouses): Provide Proof of employment and marital status (for spouse). Military - Active (including spouse and dependent children): Submit proof of active duty and relationship (for spouse and dependent children). Adult Students: Must transfer in college-level Math and English courses OR 3.00 HS CGPA OR 530 GED OR 19 ACT OR 910 SAT. New Students to Graduate Programs	Medallion	Up to $2,000 per year*	Details New Students: Student must have a minimum CGPA of 3.8 from their bachelor's degree program AND must have taken the GMAT or GRE tests. Current DU Undergraduate: Student must be a graduate of a Davenport bachelor's degree AND have a minimum CGPA of 3.8 AND must have taken the GMAT or GRE tests. New Students to Graduate Programs	Scholars	Up to $1,500 per year*	Details New Students: Student must have a minimum CGPA of 3.50 from their bachelor's degree program AND must have taken the GMAT or GRE tests. Current DU Undergraduate: Student must be a graduate of a Davenport bachelor's degree AND have a minimum CGPA of 3.50 AND must have taken the GMAT or GRE tests. Military - Active (including spouse and dependent children): Submit proof of active duty and relationship (for spouse and dependent children). DU Club Officer	Student Club	Up to $500 per year*	Active officer in an approved Davenport student club. Awarded during the year the student is an officer.	Not automatically renewable.
DU Club National Champion	Student Club	Up to $2,000 per year*	Submit copy of certificate to financial aid.	Not automatically renewable.
DU Club State Champion	Student Club	Up to $1,000 per year*	Submit copy of certificate to financial aid.	Not automatically renewable.
High School Teachers, Counselors, Coaches	High School Employee	Tuition only, up to 2 courses per academic year.	Details Award covers tuition only for up to two classes per year, one of which must be taken in-seat at either Lettinga or Fulton St locations. Student is responsible for associated fees and textbook costs. Student must provide documentation of eligibility directly to the Director of Admissions during the admission application process. Eligible high school employees are teachers, counselors, coaches, and assistant coaches. No FAFSA is required unless a student pursues other financial aid.	Not automatically renewable.
Community College Professors & Counselors	Community College Employee	Tuition only, up to 2 courses per academic year*	Details Award covers tuition only for up to two classes per year, one of which must be taken in-seat at a Davenport location. Student is responsible for associated fees and textbook costs. Student must provide documentation of eligibility directly to the Director of Admissions during the admission application process. Eligible community college employees are full-time professors and counselors. No FAFSA is required unless a student pursues other financial aid.	Not automatically renewable.
Current Davenport Student	Study Abroad	Up to $1,000 per year*	Details 3.00 min CGPA AND min. 30 credit hours completed at Davenport University AND a faculty reference. Deadline: May 1 for summer Study Abroad; June 1 for fall; October 1 for winter. Contact the Study Abroad Advisor for application procedures.	Not renewable.

* Scholarships will cover up to tuition, fees and books after all Federal and state aid (excluding student loans) has been applied. External scholarships (Ex: Rotary Clubs, churches, etc.) can be used to cover other University costs such as books or room and board, but will not result in a refund to the student.

Scholarship Guidelines

Davenport University provides institutional funding for student scholarships based on, but not limited to the following: merit, financial need and/or other published scholarship criteria. All scholarships must meet the following criteria:

Student must file a FAFSA (excluding international students).
Student must meet specific criteria and deadline date as required for each scholarship.
Student must provide the University with all requested information before the scholarship can be awarded.
Student must maintain satisfactory academic progress.
Student must demonstrate the academic excellence goals of Davenport University by meeting minimum CGPA as specified by the criteria of the scholarships.
Student who falls below a required CGPA to maintain a scholarship, but meets the requirements of a different scholarship, will receive that new scholarship. Student who has extenuating circumstances can appeal to the Financial Aid Processing Center.
Student must be enrolled at least half-time (min. 6 credit hours) except for the Study Abroad Scholarships.
The award year for scholarships is defined as fall and winter semesters. Any unused funds for the award year may be used spring/summer (not to exceed the per semester maximum).
Student must begin using the scholarship within the award year of selection.
Continuous enrollment is required (excluding spring/summer). A student who does not maintain continuous enrollment and re-applies within three years of the last semester of attendance will receive 50% of the scholarship value the first semester he/she returns to Davenport University. If continuous enrollment (excluding spring/summer) is re-established, 100% of the scholarship value will be reinstated the second semester.
International and Online students can apply for all Davenport University institutional scholarships.
Student can receive only one DU institutional scholarship within the award year. If a student qualifies for multiple scholarships, the student will receive the most beneficial scholarship.

External scholarships (Ex: Rotary Clubs, churches, etc.) can be used to cover other University costs such as books or room and board, but will not result in a refund to the student.

Apply for an Institutional Scholarship

All applications for admission are reviewed for scholarship eligibility. You will be notified shortly after acceptance of any scholarships you qualify for. You will be contacted if any further information is needed.
