Davenport University nursing programs receive accreditation
National League for Nursing awards accreditation for excellence in nursing education
CALEDONIA TOWNSHIP, MI., April 7, 2008 — Davenport University has been awarded a five-year initial national accreditation by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc. The bachelor’s degree nursing completion program, the associate degree in nursing and the diploma in practical nursing are included in the accreditation.
The five-year accreditation was effective Fall 2007 and was awarded for quality and excellence in nursing education. Five years is the maximum initial accreditation period that can be granted. Upon their review, the NLAC commended Davenport University’s nursing program strengths in the areas of student advising, financial aid services, and availability of technology.
“We are very pleased with this latest accreditation,” said Denise Oleske, Ph.D., M.P.H., R.N., dean of the school of health professions. “It recognizes our efforts to ensure that our students receive the highest quality education possible and our faculty and teaching sites are to be commended for their dedication.”
Davenport University—the only West Michigan-based private university specializing in business, technology and health professions—serves approximately 12,000 students through its campus in Caledonia Township (Grand Rapids), other locations in Michigan and online. Focusing on innovative, practical and affordable education, Davenport offers graduate and undergraduate degrees.
