CHAPTER 33 CERTIFICATION CHANGES
EFFECTIVE JANUARY, 2011
If you are currently receiving Chapter 33 (Post 9/11 GI Bill) benefits, there will be changes regarding your certification beginning with the winter semester 2011.
Starting in winter 2011 we will not certify second session enrollment until two weeks prior to the start of that session. By waiting to certify closer to the start of the session, we hope to prevent an overpayment or under payment of benefits from the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA). Adjustments can be made but any overpayments from the VA must be repaid, by you, the student.
The difference you will see in your benefits based on this change will be in the payment of the book stipend. You will be paid for your full term and session one books when your first housing check is paid. You will receive another book stipend after session two begins as long as you meet the requirements.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the University Certifying Officials: Birthene Banks, Cynthia Gill, or Daniel Sempangi at 866-353-8720.
