Charmayne Mulligan began teaching at Davenport University in 2006 as an adjunct faculty member in English & Communications and became a full-time member of the department in January 2007. She now serves as the Department Chair for English & Communications and provides support to all full and part-time departmental faculty. She regularly teaches courses in composition and professional writing.
Before coming to Davenport University, Charmayne spent five years in adult education in the areas of adult literacy and English as a Second Language (ESL). She also has experiences in journalism and corporate training. Her professional skills and experiences include grant writing, web design, photography, and desktop publishing.
She is currently enrolled as a doctoral student at Western Michigan University in the Educational Leadership - Higher Education concentration program. Her research interests are faculty development and mentoring.
Her teaching philosophy can be summed up simply as "Learning is not a spectator sport!"
