Patricia Phillips teaches English and communications at the Livonia and Warren campuses of Davenport University. She has been teaching college students since 1976; and early in her career, she taught part-time at Wayne State University and Eastern Michigan University. In 1980, she joined the full-time faculty of Detroit College of Business in Dearborn, and she served as department chairperson of English and speech for 15 years. In 2000, she made the transition to Davenport University’s full-time faculty.
Patricia has taught in-seat and online classes in composition, literature, speech, humanities, and business communications. Her commitment to her students is evident in her former service as faculty advisor to a number of student organizations including a student newspaper and the Alpha Iota sorority at the Dearborn Campus. Pat presents regularly at national and international conferences on effective teaching and learning, curriculum development, classroom assessment techniques, active learning, and pedagogy. She is currently a member and contributor to the International Society for Exploring Teaching and Learning.
