In 2010, Joann joined Davenport University as an adjunct instructor teaching clinicals in affiliated hospitals. A year later, she became a full-time faculty member at DU teaching BSN and clinical courses and utilizes the simulation labs.

Joann has held a variety of positions in healthcare over the past 20 years. She has been an emergency room/trauma nurse, PACU nurse, critical care nurse, and a whole organ transplant nurse for Gift of Life Michigan. She was an Acute Care Manager for a major metropolitan healthcare system and served as an adjunct clinical instructor at Oakland University. Joann is a member of Sigma Theta Tau.
