Mr. Griffin has a business and academic background in both accounting and finance. He has worked for the U.S. Treasury Department in the Field Audit Division of the Internal Revenue Service auditing individuals, corporations and partnerships and working with special taxpayer compliance measurement programs for 1041 trusts. He has served as corporate controller for a medium size, multi-division manufacturer and has done consulting work in the areas of taxation, corporate finance and personal financial planning. Mr. Griffin has taught Certified Financial Planner courses and holds the professional designations of CPA and CFP. He is a member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants and the Financial Planning Association.
He teaches federal taxation and corporate finance. In teaching students financial independence, Mr. Griffin believes "students must understand their local and global economic and financial environment, make smart investment decisions, and always live within their means."
Since 2000, Mr. Griffin has been the Director of Davenport’s London Paris Barcelona Summer Study program which is a three-week study abroad class that encourages cultural awareness and global competencies.
