Tim Bergsma is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). He has over 15 years of experience in the field of accounting. His years of service to the accounting profession are complimented by his experience in business management and business ownership.

Tim’s areas of specialty include a broad range of topics within management accounting such as cost accounting, activity based management, budgeting/forecasting, differential analysis, pricing strategy and operational control. Additionally, he specializes in the fields of forensic accounting and fraud examination. Tim’s abilities in this area extend into fraud prevention consulting as well as fraud detection and investigation support.

Tim\'s research interests relate to the blended fields of accounting and criminology. More specifically, he is concerned with matters related to white-collar crime prevention and detection. His dissertation explored the relationship between general strain theory and occupational fraud offenses. The overarching goal, of his research efforts, is to reduce fraud losses through enhanced understanding of crime causation theories and white-collar offenses.

Tim will often say, “I am very fortunate because I get to devote my professional efforts to two things I really, really enjoy--accounting and teaching.”
