Professor Tomaszek is a faculty liaison for experiential learning and has directed study abroad trips to China. The focus of her teaching and research is the relationship between academic service-learning and the growth of the individual, university, and community. She currently teaches Arts & Culture, Global Cultures: China, and Diversity in Society.
Prof. Tomaszek was awarded a grant as a Fulbright Scholar to lecture in P.R. China. She has published peer reviewed books and journals including the international anthology, Re-reading America: Changes and Challenges; the journal, Interdisciplinary Humanities "Teaching Toni Morrison in China;" and Contemporary American Society and Culture, a college text published by Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press.
Prof. Tomaszek has served as past-president of the Humanities Education and Research Association, Vice-President of the West Michigan Women’s Studies Council, and Davenport representative on the Michigan Campus Compact Network Committee.
