As a Coast Guardsman, you have earned many benefits and tools to help you pay for college. We'd like to thank you for your service protecting our waters, citizens and neighbors.
Davenport University wants to make sure you receive them and understand the following:
- Coast Guardsmen serving in the capacity of active duty or reserve usually qualify for Tuition Assistance (TA) from the Coast Guard.
- This TA grants you $250 per semester credit hour ($4,500 per fiscal year).
Get Credit for Service
While serving, you’ve also taken military and job specific courses that are worth college credit. You can apply credits that you've earned from the USCG toward a Davenport degree.
These earned credits have enabled many service men and women obtain a Davenport associate's or bachelor’s degree in one to two years.
Step 1: Apply Online
Apply now. Waive the $25 application fee by selecting the "Pay Later" option.
Step 2: Order Military/Civilian Transcripts
Have all previous civilian education and military course transcripts sent to Davenport University at:

Step 3: Apply for GI Bill Benefits
If you are separated from the Coast Guard or are a veteran and currently serving as a reservist, you may be eligible for further funding under the GI Bill. Before you apply for GI Bill benefits, email or call 800-686-1600:

Step 4: Apply for Coast Guard Tuition Assistance (TA)
How to Enroll in Courses and Obtain Tuition Assistance Online:
Please Note: Most of the Coast Guard is now using the Navy's internet based eTA system to submit TA applications. TA is only available for those who are currently serving in either the active duty or reserves.
Active Coast Guard / Reserve Coast Guard
- Register online and set up your account (username and password).
- Select Davenport University as your school and make sure you have the correct course information on your paperwork.
- Have your TA and applicable paperwork approved, as outlined by Coast Guard policy.

Step 5: Email a copy of the following documents to Adam Betz or Jonathan Highman.
- Veteran: DD-214 Member 4 copy
- Still Serving: Copy of military ID (front side only)
