We have information for all campus libraries here Locations & Hours [6]
Yes! You are welcome to come in and use the Davenport University Libraries, use Microsoft Office programs on our computers, search our catalog [7], use and borrow our print resources as an alumnus/a [8] or a guest [9].
The licenses for our databases only allow us to offer access to currently enrolled students. The state of Michigan offers Michigan residents access to a number of databases through MeL (Michigan Electronic Library) [10] with the use of a state of MI identity card or driver's license. There will be certain Library web pages you will not be able to reach and services (such as NoodleTools, etc.) that you will not be able to use when you are not enrolled as a current student.
Accompanied children are allowed in the Library, however please see our Policy on Minors [11] for complete details.
You can speak to library staff in person at each Library and they will connect you with a librarian or you can call or e-mail (phone and email contact info [6]), contact a librarian by texting us (616-504-1696) or through an instant messenger by clicking on the "Library Chat" icon on the Library pages or by filling out our Ask-A-Librarian [12] form on our Ask-A-Librarian knowledgebase page.
Group study rooms are available in Grand Rapids Lettinga Campus, Lansing, and Warren. Please check with the campus library front desk to make a reservation.

Most campus libraries offer equipment for checkout that is available to the faculty only. Some campuses also offer equipment for student, alumna/us, or guest use, such as headphones. They can be found in the online catalog [7]. To find equipment available at your Library, limit the search by your campus.
From off-campus you can search the LIbrary Catalog [7], request items from our catalog, request items Davenport doesn't own, [15] renew books, check your Library fees, read EBSCO e-books [16], use NoodleTools [17] for APA citation building, sign up for online tutoring [18], and use all databases [19] except for CAMIO (which requires you to be on campus).
The Libraries generally do not have textbooks in their collections. If your class textbook has not arrived on time for the beginning of class or is sold out at the bookstore, please contact your professor to make arrangements until your textbook arrives or the bookstore can restock the item. Sometimes, through the professor, the publisher will provide the first chapters needed in electronic format (if available) until your textbook arrives.
As a policy, Davenport does not borrow textbooks. Borrowing the textbook from other libraries as an alternative to a student purchasing the textbook for their class is not a workable solution. Because Interlibrary Loan (ILL) materials can only be kept for a few weeks and are subject to immediate recall at any time, you would not be able to keep it long enough and copying the whole book is a violation of the copyright law.
If you need to borrow a textbook for other reasons, please contact the Library staff.
If Davenport owns the book you need, but it is at another campus, you can request the book:
If Davenport does not own the item you need, you can request the item through interlibrary loan [15].
The loan period is 2 weeks, and you are allowed 2 renewals on books as long as they are not requested by another borrower. Renewal policies vary on DVDs and other materials. Items can be renewed online through the online catalog [7] (click on the "My Account" tab), by calling or e-mailing your campus library [6], or in person at the Library front desk.
More information is also available on our Circulation page [20].
Tutorials are available on the database page [19] by clicking on the "tutorials" button to the right of the database name.
Most of the databases [19] offered by Davenport University Libraries will allow you to search for peer-reviewed articles. Some databases call peer-reviewed articles "scholarly articles," and others call them "academic articles." When searching for a topic, look for a checkbox that allows you to limit your search for only peer-reviewed, scholarly, or academic articles. Most of our databases [19] are provided by Gale or Proquest, and their peer-review limit is shown below:
Gale: Select "peer-reviewed publications" in basic search.
ProQuest: Select "Scholarly journals, including peer-reviewed" in the basic search.
Many articles are available through Davenport's databases [19] as full-text, and most databases will allow you to search only for full-text articles. The full-text limit for Gale and Proquest databases is shown below:
Gale: Select "documents with full-text" in the basic search.
ProQuest: Select "Full text documents only" in the basic search.
If you need an article that is not available through our databases in full-text, you can request the full-text of the article through interlibrary loan [15].
The best way to find if we have a particular journal is to go to the database page [19] and click on the link at the top that says "List of Journals & e-Journals" and enter the name of the journal (or part of it - check the indexes to select the best search) in the search box. Each journal title we have access to (electronically or in print) will appear, with coverage dates and links to the database where it can be found or to the catalog so you can see which Library owns it and what years are covered.
