A combination of academic and voluntary programs such as internships assure students in our Donald S. Maine College of Business [1] and College of Technology [2] are prepared for their career.
The process to begin an internship program is simple:
Many employers work with Career Services to maintain on-going or semester-to-semester internship opportunities to keep a consistent flow of interns working in their organizations. We can also assist you with posting non-credit internships that meet the Bureau of Labor and Statistics federal internship guidelines [3]. If your organization is currently running a successful internship program, please consider posting your opportunities in DUCareerNET [4].
Internships are required for the majority of our College of Health Professions [6] programs. These practicums prepare students to enter their fast paced careers with confidence and experience.
Our job shadow program provides students an opportunity to visit with an employer for a few hours and learn from professionals in their academic field. This learning experience may include touring facilities, conducting informational interviews, or meeting others in the department.
Many organizations partner with us to help our students begin to form their professional education plan. The first step in this process is to choose a major. By offering time to conduct a short 30-45 minute interview with a student about your industry, career, and the positions that are possible in your area of expertise, you can help students make informed decisions about their majors and professional future.
Contact Career Services [7] for more information about our internship and job shadow processes.
