Davenport Students Shine at the 2016 BPA Nationals!
Davenport University was no stranger to the awards stage at the 44th Annual Business Professionals of America (BPA) Post-Secondary State Leadership Conference held at Davenport’s W.A. Lettinga Campus in Grand Rapids on Saturday, February 13. Students from colleges and universities throughout Michigan attended the conference, including Baker College, Bay College, Central Michigan University, Northwood University, Eastern Michigan University, Adrian College and Montcalm Community College. Davenport University was represented at the conference by the W.A. Lettinga and Lansing Campuses.
Davenport University’s BPA competitors won 27 state champion titles, 23 runner-up titles, and 13 third-place finishes. Overall, Davenport captured 89 top five place finishes with 41 students qualifying to represent Davenport University and the State of Michigan at the 50th annual BPA National Leadership Conference in Boston, Massachusetts, May 5 – 9, 2016.
At the awards ceremony, Maurice Henderson, the State Director for Michigan BPA, presented Deb Kiss with a distinguished service award and thanked her for 30 years of dedicated service to BPA. Deb, the Accounting and Finance Department Chair at Davenport University, became a BPA advisor in 1986.
Davenport BPA would like to thank all of those who volunteered their time to judge, grade, and assist with running the event!
