A Culture of Change
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Council coordinates Davenports efforts to become a more diverse, fair and inclusive culture. We are looking for ideas and opportunities to expand diversity at the local campus during the 2011-12 academic year.
In an effort to do so, we are soliciting proposals for activities and programs that will help us achieve DEI objectives shared in Davenport University's Vision 2015:
- We will be a community where similarities and differences are respected and celebrated, multiple perspectives and diversity of thought are embraced and people are engaged in inter-cultural experiences, including international education opportunities.
- We will actively promote full participation of all community members with an acknowledgment of the challenges faced by people from historically marginalized groups.
- We will be the leading example of a diverse and equitable organization as reflected by the composition and behavior of our faculty, staff and students.
We also encourage proposals that initiate new efforts and engage broad groups of students and/or employees across our campuses and on-line communities.
For the purpose of the Diversity Program Development Fund: Program Development is defined as the creation, planning and implementation of a coordinated set of activities and events designed to enhance internal diversity program development.
August 2011 - W.I.L.L. Project by Dr. Colleen Coughlin and Dr. Terri Tomaszek
The Women's Initiative on Learning and Leadership (W.I.L.L.) is a project aimed, in its first year at developing a model program to support efforts of female Davenport students to improve their leadership skills and networking opportunities. The proposal provides three separate venues to support women's participation and inclusion in leadership conferences, events and networking.
