ABA and BBA Major Field Test
What it the Major Field Test (MFT)?
What if I don't live within 60 miles of a Davenport campus? Schedule a Virtual Proctoring or Distance Proctoring MFT.
The Major Field Test (MFT) is the second of two competency exams required for graduation from the Maine College of Business Associate and Bachelor degree programs (the first is Peregrine). It is a nationally delivered exam that measures a student's understanding of the core business concepts of accounting, economics, informations systems, marketing and management. This exam will allow you to gauge your readiness for a career in business as well as your abilities in comparison to others in your field. It will aid Davenport University in its refinement of curriculum and programs, as well as accreditation.
The exam will take approximately 2 hours to complete and is made up of two individually timed, 1 hour sections and a required survey. You are asked to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled testing time to sign in.
Sample questions and further information regarding the test are available at http://ets.org/mft/about
How do I take the MFT?
As a graduation requirement for the Associates (ABA) and Bachelors (BBA) of Business Administration degrees, your advisor will enroll you in the BUSN288T or BUSN488T Major Field Test class in your final semester before graduation.
ALL students residing within 60 miles of a testing session on a campus will be registered for an IN-SEAT course and assigned a campus testing date. Students can drop/add into another IN-SEAT course to change their testing date.
ONLINE students will be given instructions for test registration with ProctorU for their individual test within the first weeks of the session for which they are registered via Blackboard announcements and email.
If you are unsure of your MFT registration or, if you are an online student and have not received your ProctorU information within the first weeks of your registered session, contact the Business Competencies Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org or 616-698-7111, x5485.
Registering & Scheduling for the Online Major Field Test (MFT)
If you are enrolled in either the ONLINE BUSN288T or ONLINE BUSN488T course, you can register and schedule for the MFT with either Virtual Proctoring with ProctorU (recommended) or Distance Proctoring (if special accommodations are needed).
What do I need to bring?
- You will need photo identification in the form of a state issued ID or DU student ID.
- You will also need to know your DU student ID # and Davenport University email address.
- No personal items will be permitted during testing. No mobile phones, calculators, food or drinks are permitted at any time during testing.
- You will be provided scratch paper and pencil prior to the beginning of your exam. For testing security reasons you will not be permitted to use your own.
What if I need accommodations?
Please contact the Business Competencies Coordinator at email@example.com to ensure that your accommodation requirements are noted. When you arrive for the test, you will also need to ensure that the proctor is notified so that they can ensure the proper accommodations are elected before approving the test to launch. This often requires a few extra minutes as accommodations must be handled on an individual basis at time of testing. Note: Accommodation testing for online students is not available via ProctorU, but is available through Distance Testing.
What if I miss the test or need to reschedule?
If you have missed your test or need to reschedule, contact your advisor. You must be re-registered for a later session.
What if I live out of state or need to schedule my exam off campus?
Contact your advisor and request registration in the ONLINE course. Once registered, you will be eligible to complete the exam via a ProctorU virtual proctor OR by scheduling a Distance Proctoring appointment. All students enrolled in the online course will receive instructions regarding these testing options within the first weeks of the session for which they are registered.
