Saginaw Active Shooter Scenario

Saginaw Active Shooter Scenario

On August 21, 2012, the Risk Management department at Davenport University held an Active Shooter Drill at the Saginaw Campus. The drill involved about 100 staff and faculty members from the Saginaw, Midland and Flint Campuses. Law enforcement officials from Saginaw Township, Saginaw County and the Michigan State Police participated as well. Multiple media outlets were present including representatives from MLive (Saginaw News), ABC-TV12, WNEM-TV5, NBC-TV25 and WSGW-AM (News/Talk radio).

Staff and faculty underwent crisis training, learning how to appropriately respond to different crisis scenarios (including an active shooter) and how to keep themselves and others safe from harm. Afterwards, an actual drill played out enacting what would happen in the case of a shooter on-campus.
