Severe Weather Policy Checklist

Student Services Representative

___ Campus Leader/designee and Academic Leadership decide to make a recommendation on classes being cancelled or the building closed.
___ Decision will be assisted by Facilities and/or security that may be on site.
___ Decision to cancel class will be made for the morning by 5 a.m. and announcement will go out at 6 a.m. Decision to cancel class will be made for the afternoon by 9:30 a.m. and the announcement will go out by 10 a.m. Decision to cancel class will be made for the evening by 2:30 p.m. and the announcement will go out by 3 p.m.
___ Campus Leader or designee will call V.P. of Risk Management with cancellation of classes or closing of campus using the appropriate statistics as outlined in the chart in the Severe Weather Policy and information from www.weather.com.
___ Campus Leader or designee will put a message on the Emergency Hotline and remember to update it as necessary.
___ Campus Leader or designee will contact local TV and radio stations.
___ Campus Leader or designee will activate their call tree as appropriate.

 

V.P. of Risk Management

___ V.P. of Risk Management will contact appropriate Executive Vice Presidents who will then obtain permission from the University President.
___ V.P. of Risk Management will contact specific Campus Leader or designee to report the decision.
___ DU Alert will be activated to the affected campuses.
