Obtaining a Student (F-1) Visa
Prospective international students who have received an I-20 form from Davenport University should contact the U.S. Embassy or Consular Office having jurisdiction over their place of residence to learn the process to apply for a student or F-1 visa.
The earliest time that an F-1 visa can be granted is 60 days prior to the "no-later-than" reporting date listed on the I-20 form.
The visa application process may be completed by mail, drop box, or travel agency in some countries. An interview with a visa officer is normally required. Once you contact the U.S. Embassy or Consular Office, you will receive instructions on how to proceed and a list of any forms and documents required for your F-1 visa application process.
You may be requested to provide the following information and/or documents to the U.S. Embassy or Consular Office when applying for an F-1 visa:
- Your unexpired passport
- An I-20 form from Davenport University

- The receipt of $100 USD SEVIS fee paid online or by mail
- The visa application form provided by the U.S. Embassy or Consular Office in response to your initial request
- Evidence of your financial ability as listed in question #8 of the I-20 form

Once you receive your F-1 visa, make appropriate travel arrangements and contact the Office of International Programs at Davenport University to notify them of your arrival plans.
