Kojo Quartey, PhD, Dean, Donald W. Maine School of Business

Dr. Kojo A. Quartey brings to Davenport a history of building two university business departments, extensive community service and leadership, numerous awards, and authorship of a long list of scholarly economics publications. He was previously dean of the College of Business and Professional Studies at Lincoln University (Jefferson City, Mo.) and held several positions at Talladega College (Talladega, Ala.), including most recently dean of the Division of Administration and Business and a tenured full professor of business and economics. He received his doctorate in applied economics from Mississippi State University, and earned his Master of Arts degree in economics and Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Morgan State University.

Quartey's professional affiliations include memberships in Kiwanis Club, HeadStart Policy Council and Multicultural Forum. He has served on the board of directors for Big Brother/Big Sister, Chamber of Commerce, and St. Mary's Hospital. Over the last few years, he has recruited over 200 international students, 120 of those from Ghana. His interests include playing and coaching soccer, playing tennis, and traveling to Ghana.

Reid Gough, Dean, School of Technology

Reid Gough is an expert in the field of technology. He has worked with some of the world’s largest companies to develop best-in-class technology solutions in the fields of education, training, and IT. A frequent presenter at national conferences and local consortiums, he is well-known for his work in knowledge management, human capital management and technology. An expert in the field of Biometric Security, he has been interviewed on the topic by local and national media, including CNN.

Gough previously served as chief knowledge officer of TIP Interactive, where he provided leadership in the development of technology-based systems that have been used by hundreds of thousands of employees around the world. He also served as an education and training specialist with United Technologies Automotive.

Gough is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. He holds a Master of Education degree in Instructional Technology from Wayne State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from Western Michigan University.

Recently named one of West Michigan’s 40 most influential business leaders under 40, Gough works extensively with local businesses to develop cutting-edge programs and curriculum for Davenport University students.

 

Dean team committed to ultimate goal: Careers for graduates

With the appointment of Kojo Quartey, PhD, as dean of the Donald W. Maine School of Business, Davenport University now has an exemplary team of deans in place to guide the quality and progress of each of its three professional schools. In addition to Dr. Quartey, who heads a business school with the potential to be among the best in the country, the professional school deans are Denise Oleske, PhD, who was appointed in 2005 as dean of the expanding School of Health Professions, and Reid Gough, dean of the School of Technology.

These three highly qualified and experienced deans develop the leading-edge curriculum and oversee the talented faculty and quality classroom experiences that prepare our students to achieve their career goals in business, technology and health professions. Considering their combined experience and achievements, this dean team is a dream team for the future of Davenport University.
