Active duty servicemembers who qualify for Tuition Assistance (TA), also are eligible for Davenport University’s military financial benefits.
Through the Federal Armed Forces Tuition Assistance program, you may be eligible for up to:
- $250 per semester credit hour
- $4500 per fiscal year
Every A, C or course you’ve taken as part of technical training or rate training maybe worth credit via the U.S. Navy and Marine SMART System transcripts. Credits accepted from SMART will be available to apply towards your associate or bachelor’s degree from Davenport. Many active duty members are able to finish an associates or bachelor’s degree in one to two years.
Get Started with Tuition Assistance
- Contact your Navy College Office to receive educational counseling in person, by phone or email.
- Complete a TA Application form NETPDTC 1560/3 listing course(s) and fee(s) (Information here.)
- Check with your Davenport University military admissions advisor to ensure that the tuition amounts you list are correct. Criteria for allowable fees under Tuition Assistance:
- Fees directly required for course enrollment may be combined with tuition. The Navy will pay fees that are published, mandatory, and charged for course enrollment.
- Mandatory ,non-reimbursable fees meeting the criteria listed above may be funded with TA. However, if the course is canceled allowing the tuition to be refunded, the student is responsible for paying the non-reimbursable fee.
- Sailors requesting payment of fees with tuition are responsible for providing accurate fee information to their Navy College Office when applying for TA.
- Ensure that you carefully read the page two of the TA Application and complete the requested information at the bottom of the page. When you sign your application, you are indicating that you understand the current rules relating to Tuition Assistance funding. Receive command approval signature to enroll in the course(s).
- Your TA Application MUST be returned to your Navy College Office for processing.
- Have your Commanding Officer, Executive Officer, or Officer in Charge sign the completed application form.
- Submit the completed TA form to the Navy College Office. This form can also be faxed to the Navy College Office.
- Turn the approved document into your military admissions counselor to register for class.
If you have GI Bill benefits, TA "Top-Up" benefits may be use by following the process at the Department of Veteran Affairs website. If eligible, you can apply at the DAV site.
Tips When Applying for Tuition Assistance
- To ensure your TA voucher is accurate, you must secure a statement of fees notice from your DU military admissions advisor. The statement of fees notice outlines your start/ending dates, course cost, total credits and out of pocket expenses.
- If you take more than one course, you can submit one TA form if all your courses have the same start date.
- Have proper signatures from your Education Services Officer (ESO) and Command Representative are required, as well as your own signature.
Submit Your Completed TA Voucher
- Email your completed TA voucher to your military admissions counselor prior to your course start date (as directed) or fax to (616) 732-1150 after your course has started.
