Tutoring Services
The mission of the Davenport University Tutoring Centers is to provide free, individualized learning assistance to students as well as strengthen their study and time management skills. The tutoring staff will promote and foster independent learning in a variety of disciplines, delivered in a variety of formats, to help students attain continued success through their academic career.

Walk-in Tutoring Tips

  • Do bring all relevant materials to the tutoring session.
  • Do attempt the assignment before the tutoring session.
  • Do have questions ready to ask the tutor.
  • Do not be afraid to say
    "I don't understand, can you repeat that?"
  • Do make certain that you understand what you need to do next at the end of the tutoring session.
  • Do review the materials on your own soon after the tutoring session.
  • Do not expect the tutor to do your work for you.

Davenport's free tutoring resources are available for all students and are delivered in person, on campus on a drop-in basis or online.

On-Campus Walk-in Tutoring

Davenport University offers in-person tutoring at most DU Campus Libraries in a variety of subjects.

Check the campus schedules to see what is offered near you. Online Tutoring is also available in many subjects for both in-seat and online students.

  • You can walk without an appointment for tutoring sessions during posted tutoring hours.
  • If you would like an appointment for one-on-one tutoring, contact tutoring@davenport.edu for infomation and appointments.

Online Tutoring

DU tutors are available online

There are also online commercial tutoring services provided by DU.

  • Brainfuse
    • LOGIN to the Web pages (top right) to see the Brainfuse logo at the top right of the page (see the DU Brainfuse page for instructions)
    • Live Help - tutors meet you in an online classroom - 24/7 for math, 2-11 pm EDT for other subjects
    • 24/7 Center - enter a question (can include a relevant document) and receive a response in your Brainfuse Message Center (usually within 24 hours) 
    • Writing Lab - submit your paper and receive feedback in your Brainfuse Message Center (usually within 24 hours) 
    • Spanish Language Lab
    • Meet - Online meeting place for you and your group, chat or audio
    • Brainwave - Record a whiteboard session of anything you want someone to see and e-mail them the link.
    • Flashbulb - View or create online flashcards to help you study
  • SMARTHINKING
    • Connect with a live e-structor in a chat environment - Sun – Thurs: 8 p.m. - 12 a.m. EST
    • Schedule a personal appointment
    • Submit your writing for your class to their Online Writing Lab and receive feedback (usually within 24 hours).
    • Submit a question and receive a reply from an e-structor (usually within 24 hours).
  • GLEIM - Learn basic accounting principles by going through modules
