We also invite you to cheer on the Davenport Panthers. As a Davenport student, you get free admission to Davenport University football games and other sporting events on campus.

NCAA Division II teams

If you’re a varsity-level athlete, Davenport University athletics is the ideal place for you to build your skills, showcase your talents and receive the support you need to shine — in DU sports and in your classes. Davenport is home to 11 men’s and 11 women’s NCAA Division II teams. Our more than 500 student-athletes compete in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). Founded in 1972, the GLIAC has 12 member institutions across Michigan, Indiana and Ohio.

Non-varsity DU sports teams

Beyond NCAA Division II teams, Davenport also offers a non-varsity DU athletics program. Choose from 11 non-varsity DU sports teams, including men’s and women’s hockey and rugby and co-ed water polo. Through non-varsity DU athletics, you’ll improve your game and keep your edge by competing with universities all across the state of Michigan and beyond.

Intramural DU athletics program

Get or stay fit, make new friends and have fun while still experiencing the thrill of competition through the extensive intramural DU sports program. Another way to get involved and be active is through recreational activities, like bowling and skating, offered through Panther Recreation. Our Student Activity Center is open to all students and is a great place to stay active and fit.

If competitive video gaming is your sport of choice, you’ll be glad to know Davenport has an esports team and a dedicated esports arena. Davenport University athletics program added esports in 2019, making us the third university in the state to do so.
