Summary of Position:

 The Executive Vice President for Alumni and Development is responsible for the strategic development and implementation of comprehensive alumni and development efforts resulting in increased awareness, fund development and support of the University. This is a highly visible position that is directly responsible for the University’s alumni relations and development activities. This position is responsible for cultivating relationships and working with the President to enhance giving. These responsibilities are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the University’s mission, vision, and values that include diversity, equity and inclusion.

Organizational Structure:

The EVP for Alumni and Development reports directly to the President.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve on the President’s Leadership Team and Cabinet and advise the President on all alumni and development matters.
  • Design and implement a comprehensive, multi-year fundraising strategy.
  • Create an annual development plan, including goals, strategies, tactics, resource requirements, and budget to meet ongoing fundraising needs.
  • Direct all development activities of the University, including, but not limited to, major gifts, annual and capital campaigns, and planned giving.
  • Cultivate and nurture relationships, working in conjunction with the President and other University executives and volunteers, to enhance giving.
  • Develop and oversee a prospect management system that includes “moves management.” 
  • Hire, train and develop alumni and development staff.
  • Provide leadership for special alumni and development events.
  • Participate with the Board of Trustees.
  • Engage in the strategic planning activities of the University.
  • Lead the Davenport University Foundation as Executive Director and Secretary, serving the Foundation Board of Directors.
  • Responsible for Corporate relationships and development for the University.
  • Provide leadership to enhance funding through public and private grants. 
  • In collaboration with University leadership, plan and execute comprehensive campaigns.
