With an expertise in financial accounting, forensic accounting and auditing, Deb Kiss serves as a Professor in the Accounting and Finance Department for the Donald W. Maine College of Business. Professor Kiss has been teaching accounting students for over 35 years at Davenport University. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she has been an advisor to a student academic club, Business Professionals of America (BPA), for over 30 years. BPA provides students with the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in competitions with other college and university students from around the country.

Prior to returning to a full-time faculty role in 2016, Professor Kiss served as the Accounting and Finance Department Coordinator and Chair for 15 years. In this role, she served on several university committees and worked with the department to create an Honors Accounting Program and Masters in Accountancy program. She also served on the Accounting Accreditation committee for the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education. During this time, Professor Kiss started the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program at Davenport University with the two goals; providing a valuable service to the community and to give DU students the opportunity to apply their academic skills to real life situations. In twelve years, this program has grown from serving over 200 clients to over 6500 clients. In addition to teaching, Professor Kiss has consulted in the areas of auditing and internal auditing as well as worked in the banking industry, non-profit accounting and tax return preparation.

Professor Kiss is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner and Doctor of Jurisprudence. She teaches both undergraduate and graduate accounting courses specializing in accounting research, ethics, auditing and forensic accounting.
