With an expertise in Computer science, computer information systems and business, Gabriela Ziegler serves as Department Chair for Computer Information Sciences for the College of Technology. In this role she is engaged in academic program development and academic administration. She also serves as program director for the Study Abroad Program to Costa Rica.
Combined, Dr. Ziegler has more than 20 years of experience in the technology field and education. Most of her experience in the technology field comes from the oil industry, specifically PDVSA, a Fortune 500 company. Her last position at PDVSA was as an Information Technology Project Manager for the human resources business unit. As a Corporate Technology Project Manager, Dr. Ziegler led the analysis, redesign and implementation of the Human Resources Database for the corporation (approximately 4,000 employees). She also prepared and presented preliminary investigation reports, system requirements, document and system design specifications. Dr. Ziegler participated in the team that designed and implemented the SAP payroll module that produced a savings of 40% of the corporate HR budget. Dr. Ziegler served as team leader for the analysis, design and implementation of a multi-media system prototype for the guides, policies and benefits function. She also led the effort to implement Human Resources\' change processes to improve productivity & customer satisfaction, using the techniques of re-engineering, SWOT analysis, mapping processes and Total Quality Management.
