With many years of experience in the classroom as well the dedication to assisting students to achieve their goals, Professor Draayer has worked with students for almost four decades to help them develop the personal and academic skills needed to succeed in the world. Professor Draayer has been involved in Information Technology education in many areas. He has worked with students in developing skills in the Systems and Programming areas and worked for many years in training students in the subject of Computer Networks and Cisco. Currently, Professor Draayer specializes in the area of computer and cyber security with an emphasis on Disaster Recovery.

Professor Draayer has been involved with numerous companies and organizations in helping them prepare and implement Information Technology solutions in order to process their data in a safe and efficient environment. He has developed custom programming solutions to help companies with their Information Technology needs in many areas of business including accounting, inventory management and sales analysis. In addition, Professor Draayer is currently very involved in helping to provide organizations with the tools and education needed to protect their systems from cyber and other attacks. Professor Draayer currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Members Alliance of InfraGard. InfraGard is an arm of the FBI that provides training, education, research and assistance to organizations to help protect our country and the critical infrastructure systems such as electrical, education, water, transportation, law enforcement and many other sectors that are vulnerable to cyber and other attacks. He is a leader in providing quarterly sessions to organizations and companies throughout Michigan as they attempt to protect our valuable infrastructure systems.

In addition to his work in Information Technology and cyber security, Professor Draayer also has been very involved with students through Business Professionals of America (BPA). BPA is a national student organization that serves over 45,000 members in the area of personal development and also academic competitions. For over 35 years, he has led Davenport students to excel at the highest levels of state and national competitions. Over 100 Davenport University students have received 1st place national awards in business, technology, team and speaking competitions. In 2015, Ron was inducted into the BPA Hall of Fame for his work with students. He also served on the BPA Board of Trustees from 2009 – 2015.

In addition, Professor Draayer currently serves as the State Advisor to the Michigan Middle Level BPA program. In 2015, Ron led the creation of this program in Michigan that is designed for middle school students to help them with their skill development and also to succeed in different academic competitions. Michigan is becoming a national leader in this program for Middle Level students and Davenport University is very committed to demonstrating educational leadership to students at all levels of our state.
