Professor Gillespie has taught at Davenport University for many years in the Social Science Department. He has also taught graduate-level psychology courses at Wayne State University. Over the years, Professor Gillespie has been honored to have achieved a number of awards for teaching excellence.
During his time in private and community-based practice, Professor Gillespie has counseled children, adolescents, adults and families. He has also served as a consultant to various medical staff on behalf of patients.
Professor Gillespie is a member of the American Psychological Association. He also belongs to Division 38 (Health Psychology) within this organization which has as a goal to further the understanding of the role of psychological factors in relation to an individual’s health. This goal is achieved through research, education, and service activities within the community. As a member of the American Psychology Association, Professor Gillespie has presented at several major conferences and has a number of publications based on research he has conducted.
