Arrival to the US

 

If you have requested to be picked up from the airport, a Davenport University van will be waiting for you at the airport. The DU van will only be operated on move-in day and if you have requested this in advance. 

Flight delays or changes, please call 616.446.7098 or 616.544.5041.  This will ensure the driver is aware of your arrival status.

As an International student, it is important that you prepare, before you leave the Unites States to return to your home country, or travel for other purposes.  Below is a list of required and recommended documents you should carry with you during travel (do not pack them away).

Travel Documents:

Required

  • I-20 endorsed by DSO in last 12 months (6 months if on OPT)
  • Valid Passport (for at least 6 months)
  • Valid F-1 visa (Canadian’s not required)

Recommended:

  • Transcript/class schedule
  • Registration/Acceptance letter
  • Financial support – required of applying for new F-1 visa
  • Proof of paying the I-901 SEVIS fee

For an updated signature on your I-20, or to prepare for travel, please schedule an appointment with your campus Designated School Official (DSO).  A list of DSO's and their contact information is below.

If your F1 visa is expired, you must schedule an appointment with the Embassy to visa process while home!

Do we have the most up to date Address on file?  If it has changed, please complete the International Student SEVIS Update form (located above) and return to your Advisor. 

REMEMBER: It is your responsibility to notify your DSO of any changes in employment, status, living arrangements or academics within 10 days of that change occurring. 

 

On Campus Residence (Lettinga / Grand Rapids campus only)

Fall 2017 Move-in Day: Monday, August 28th 2017

On campus residence should contact our Davenport security staff to provide you with a room key and assist you into your room.  Please call 616.446.7098 or 616.544.5041 upon arriving to campus.  If DU van is transporting you from the airport, the driver will contact them for you.

Transportation
