Our inter-campus, cross-functional Council serves as an advisory and working group for coordination of the University's efforts in regard to inter-cultural competence, diversity and inclusion. The Council meets monthly and is co-chaired by the executive director of diversity, equity and inclusion and by an identified faculty member.
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council will advise the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to coordinate the University’s efforts in regard to multicultural competence, diversity, and inclusion at all campuses. The council will advise in the creation and coordination of strategies for diversity, equity, and inclusion of activities and outreach.
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council will consist of approximately 20 members and will include cross functional representation of employee groups across the state, as well as at least one student representative. Faculty and staff interested in participating may be nominated, but, must submit an application to indicate their interest and commitment. Applications will be reviewed by the council, who will make recommendations to the Leadership Team. The Leadership Tem will be responsible for the final selection of nominated members. Initial appointments will consist of 1, 2, and 3 years. Subsequent appointments will be for 3 years. Council members may be reappointed by the Leadership Team, for an additional 3 years upon the expiration of the initial appointment. The Council will be co-chaired by the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and an identified academic member of the committee.
Nominated faculty, staff and students must apply for membership terms ranging from one to three years. Additionally, each Council members serves on a DEI Council subcommittee: Academics, Data, Human Resources, Cultural Engagement Events, and Supplier Diversity.

The Executive Director of the DEI council is Rhae-Ann Booker, Ph.D.
Initial appointments will consist of 1, 2, and 3 years. Subsequent appointments will be for 3 years. Council members may be reappointed by the Leadership Team, for an additional 3 years upon the expiration of the initial appointment.
The aim is to select from a diversified group of candidates from faculty, staff and students, ensuring an adequate representation from the university.
