New for Nursing: Centralized Application Service!
NursingCAS is a centralized admission system which will require students to submit their nursing application and supporting documents in electronic format versus hardcopy/paper format. The new CAS system process is scheduled to begin August 25, 2016 for new applicants. The NursingCAS system is supported by AACN and offered by CCNE our accrediting agencies. The fee for the BSN PL undergraduate program is $45.00 for the first submission and $30.00 for each additional submission.

NursingCAS will not be used for the BSN Concurrent Programs. Paper applications will remain for this program ONLY.
Before beginning your application, you are highly encouraged to read both the DU and NursingCAS application information as well as talk with an Admissions Representative to ensure you are ready to apply. Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all required documents are received as close to the published deadline as possible. All application materials become the sole property of the Davenport University- Mable Engle Nursing Program.
General Information for the Nursing CAS Application
The NursingCAS application will require you to electronically fill out the application, submit an essay, provide the email addresses of two recommenders, and enter other demographic information. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Before Beginning Your Application, You May Find It Helpful To:
As part of the application, you will also request official transcripts from each institution you attended to be sent directly to NursingCAS for verification.
Identify the names and secure accurate email addresses for two recommenders who will fill out and return a NursingCAS reference form.
Have a credit/debit card number ready for payment of the NursingCAS application fee when you’re ready to submit your application.

Campus Preference: Be sure to apply for your first program location choice. You will complete and submit only one (1) NursingCAS application. That application will be your first choice of campus you would like to attend. During the application you will designate your second, third and forth campus selections.
References: Under the SUPPORTING INFORMATION section of the NursingCAS application you will find a link to request references. Applicants must list two (2) professional references. Only electronic references are accepted by DU. The reference form will be sent to your recommenders as soon as you enter their email address into the application. Be sure to notify recommenders that they will receive a reference form from NursingCAS.
Personal Statement: Under the PROGRAM MATERIALS section of the NursingCAS application you will find a link to add a Personal Statement. The Personal Statement you submit should be approximately 500 words in length. You must demonstrate critical thinking, and describe any previous experiences or examples to help support your personal statement. You will upload this document to your NursingCAS application. The Personal Statement should address the following question:

-Your purpose in pursuing the MSN program, past experiences, and future expectations
Test Scores: When and how many times should I take the TEAS?
DU allows the ATI TEAS/TEAS V to be taken an unlimited amount of times but other schools will only take the first 2 or 3 score you take so be mindful of that. Please upload the one TEAS score to be considered.
Background Information —Under the PERSONAL INFORMATION section OTHER INFORMATION - NursingCAS asks several miscellaneous questions including questions about past academic history, license infractions, and criminal violations. Space is provided for you to make comments and provide explanations.
Application Tips to Know:
You may save your work and return to your NursingCAS application as often as needed to complete the information prior to submission and the payment of the application fee.
You do not need to wait for references or official transcripts to be received before you submit your application to NursingCAS. Once your application is submitted, NursingCAS will continue to collect all required documents and attach them to your application.
You are highly encouraged to monitor the progress of your application through your NursingCAS account to ensure that all documents are received in a timely manner. Only complete applications can be considered for admissions.
Check the email account you listed on your NursingCAS application for any messages and updates. The majority of our communications will be sent to you by email to that account address.

Mable Engle Nursing Programs
The Mable Engle Nursing Programs (Nursing Program) comprises one of the four divisions within the College of Health Professions. The Nursing Programs include MSN, BSN- Completion, Bachelor of Science in Nursing - Pre-licensure (BSN-PL), and Diploma in Practical Nursing (PN). There are currently four locations throughout Michigan for in-seat instruction, as well as online, offering the Nursing curriculum. The program is offered in Grand Rapids, Warren, Lansing and Midland. The composition of the nursing student body at each location reflects its surrounding community in terms of race and ethnicity.
