As a student member, what may I expect?

Our student chapter had monthly meetings and meet local and regional HR professionals as well as attend regional and national conventions. Student membership in SHRM provides access to vital HR information, products and services designed for the academic student as well as the practicing professional.

Our chapter has a close association with the Greater Grand Rapids Area Human Resource Management (AHRM) group. It is a vibrant chapter with over 200 Human Resource professionals in active membership roles. Our relationship allows us to provide internships, job shadowing, and networking opportunities within the West Michigan Community. Many mentorships and internships have evolved into job offers!

Our chapter hosts important seminars and workshops including the annual "Employment Panel Discussion," a forum for all Davenport students to learn about how to land a job! Another workshop hosted this past year was, "Building Cross Cultural Competencies." Davenport, AHRM, and the Michigan Diversity Council sponsored the event. Each year our SHRM Student Chapter designs and implements important community service projects. Last year our chapter sponsored a clothing drive for the Grand Rapids Women's Resource Center.
