Lansing Campus Parking Policy

1.0 Overview

This document contains parking procedures for the Davenport University Lansing Campus at 200 S. Grand Avenue, Lansing, Michigan 48933. These procedures are in place to address local operating needs unique to the local campus and may not apply to any other Davenport University location. This document exists in addition to, not in place of the “Davenport University Parking and Registration Enforcement Policy.” Vehicles operating at Lansing Campus are subject to the provisions of both policies.

2.0 Academic Classes/University Business

Davenport University Lansing Campus makes an effort to provide convenient parking for our students and employees, but all resources are on a first-come, first-served basis. To conserve our parking resources, we require that anyone using those resources be doing so only while they are actually on campus. We cannot allow parking at Davenport University for working elsewhere or for other off-campus activities. Exceptions to this policy must be approved by the Executive Director of Public Safety or his/her designee.

3.0 Student Parking

Registered students have two options for parking at Lansing Campus. The first option, Lot 1, is the area on the East and South sides of the classroom building. Please do not park in the private lot just South of Lot 1 that has a metal arch over the entrance. The (4) visitor parking spaces in Lot 1 are for persons with Admissions appointments only. Registered students may not park there. The second option for registered students is the South Grand Parking Ramp across the street from the classroom building. A ramp access card is required to avoid paying a daily fee at the ramp. Ramp access cards are issued by the Lansing Campus Public Safety Office in Room 112 along with your Student Parking Permit. Student accounts will be charged a $35.00 refundable deposit for the access card. The deposit will be credited back to the student’s account when the student returns the card to Public Safety. The ramp access cards must be returned once the student is no longer enrolled in classes. Note that some very large or tall vehicles may not be able to enter the South Grand Parking Ramp.

4.0 Employee Parking

Staff and Instructors with the proper access card may park in Lansing Campus Parking Lot 2. Lot 2 is on the NW corner of Grand Avenue and Washtenaw Street in Lansing, with entry via an electronic gate off Grand Avenue. Employees are prohibited from parking in Lot 1 at any time. Visiting staff that arrives at Lansing Campus for meetings or events may park in Lot 2 on a first come-first serve basis. If Lot 2 is full staff will have to find parking in a private lot or on the street and file for reimbursement from their department.

5.0 External Groups and Events

External groups will need to secure parking options off campus during events. They will not be permitted to use the on campus lots without the prior written approval of the Executive Director of Public Safety or his/her designee.

6.0 Modifications

Davenport University reserves the right to modify this policy at any time, with or without notice. Revisions will be made at the discretion of the Executive Director of Public Safety.
