What is the CPCU 500 Program?

Foundations of Risk Management and Insurance

This program focuses on increasing your understanding of risk management and the insurance industry. The  program covers a broad understanding of property-casualty insurance in addition to the choice of a commercial or personal risk management and insurance concentration. To complete educational requirements for the CPCU designation, students learn and prepare for national examination sequence.

It is designed to:

  • Improve your effectiveness by relating risk management and insurance principles to everyday practice.
  • Enhance your career potential and status by pursuing the CPCU credential
  • Provide valuable practice quizzes/exams.
  • Increase your value to customers by using the risk management framework to solve problems.
  • Enhance your efficiency in analyzing insurance policies with a systematic method.
  • Earn 21 Continuing Education units (CE) for passing national exam
  • Offer an option to achieve three credits at no additional cost if enrolled as a DU student.

What to Expect

  • This is a 10 week program 
  • Next scheduled session: September 7 – November 9, 2011
  • Will be held Wednesdays: 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Davenport University's Kalamazoo, MI Campus and via live WebCast

Students will:  Prepare for national CPCU certification exam

This program is recommended for experienced people who already possess a good knowledge of insurance practices and some formal study of insurance principles, including:

INVESTMENT:

  1. The instruction investment for this program is $120 per person (special introductory price for CPCU Society Southwestern Michigan Chapter members). 
  2. Recommended Text and Course Guide with access to Online Practice Exams will be provided at cost of $245. 
  3. Exam fee of $225 for AICPCU scheduled online exam.
