Prometric Testing

Description:

Prometric offers exams and certifications for many organizations (sponsors) including many IT certification exams from sponsors such as Microsoft.  To see a complete list of sponsors and their exams offered by Prometric, please check the Prometric Web site, select the sponsor and follow the instructions.   To see if Davenport is authorized to administer an exam, after selecting a sponsor, click on the "Schedule" or "Get Started" buttons and proceed through the instructions until you are able to see the available testing sites.  These tests are offered to both DU students and external candidates.

DU Testing Sites:

Prometric exams are only offered at the Grand Rapids W. A. Lettinga campus.  For Test Center hours click here.

Registration:

Candidates must schedule their exams on the Prometric website.  Registration FAQs.

Cancellation or Rescheduling:

All cancellations and rescheduling must be done 24 hours before the scheduled testing appointment or risk forfeiture of payment.  Go to the Prometric website to reschedule or cancel.  Call Prometric Candidate Care with any questions: (800) 775-3926.

Cost:

  • The cost varies by exam.  For prices:
    • Go to the Prometric web site scheduling page
    • Select the test sponsor name (such as Microsoft)
    • Click on the "Get Started" button
    • Click on "Exam Fees" and follow the instructions

Test Duration:

Tests vary in length.  Check the Prometric web site for the length of the exam you wish to take.

Retake Rule:

Varies by test, check test provider's website (e.g. Microsoft).  Your score report should also direct you to more information.

ID on Day of Testing:

ID requirements vary by test.  Most often primary and secondary IDs are required, both containing signatures.  When you register, you will receive an e-mail from Prometric explaining ID requirements.  Common acceptable forms of ID include:

Primary ID - must have photo and signature; non-expired

  • Government Issued Driver's license
  • Passport
  • Military ID (when it contains a signature)
  • Welfare card
  • Green card/Alien Registration card
  • Other government issued ID with photo & signature
  • National Identification card

Most tests require secondary ID - must be the original and contain a signature

  • Government Employee ID
  • Signed credit card
  • University or College ID
  • Check cashing card
  • Non-government employee ID
  • Health insurance card
  • Any ID on the Primary list

Unacceptable IDs for most exams

  • Birth certificate
  • Birth registration

Accommodations:

Study Resources:

Study materials may be found by visiting the test provider's website (e.g. Microsoft), in bookstores, and on line.

From SelfTest - Now, DU students can obtain SelfTest IT Certification Practice Tests for $33.00 per exam (about 2/3 off the regular price).

These are full-version practice exams that are very helpful in studying for your certification exams. Most come with hundreds of questions, answers, flash cards and study guides, with detailed explanations about the responses. Many include simulations that are similar to what you will find on the exam. Once purchased, they are yours to keep, running and using as often as you like.  Tests are available for most Computer/Networking certifications.
