2019 Wynalda Teaching and Learning Institute - Wednesday, August 14, 2019

Daytime events will be held in the Sneden Center Auditorium, meeting rooms and classrooms at the W.A. Lettinga Campus.  Many sessions will be available for online remote viewing and participation. 

8:45-9:30  AM in the Sneden Center:  Registration and Coffee/ Pastries

9:30 AM- 11 AM in the Wilbur and Sharon Lettinga Auditorium:  Welcome from Davenport Leadership and opening employer TLI-talks addressing employer needs and experiences with new employees/ recent graduates      

11:15-12 noon Breakout sessions with employer presenters 

12:00-1:30 PM outside on campus:  BBQ luncheon and networking time.

1:40- 2:40 PM  Breakouts #1 on Student Realities -- These interactive sessions will overview the key challenges/ realities facing students as well as resources and best practices for DU faculty to support students in these areas. 

  1. Mental Health with Andrea Prins and Neil Shepard
  2. Financial Realities with David DeBoer, Michele Davis, and Brandi Melkild
  3. Students of Color with Jackie Davila, Dean Susan Gunn and Brian Lassiter
  4. LGBTQ+ Students with Colleen Couglin and Erin Mieskowski
  5. ADA accomodations with Joe Bishop, Kassy Clark and Shubhada Sagdeo

2:40-3:00 PM  Snack Break in Sneden Center entryway (by auditorium)

Based on participant feedback and increasing no-shows, the post-TLI networking and dinner will not be held this year.  The longer luncheon time will provide an opportunity for connection and conversation.  Those faculty staying overnight at the conference hotel can register for a voucher to eat dinner at the hotel restaurant.
