Davenport University has been approved to participate in State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements.

SARA – the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement – is an agreement between member states, territories and districts of the United States of America. As of July 2019, 49 states (all but California), the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands have joined SARA.

Davenport University has been approved by the State of Michigan to participate in SARA.

Students can find more information about SARA and the requirements that both states and member institutions must adhere to as part of the agreement. The site also provides a list of participating institutions, student resources and accreditation information.

Student Complaint Process:

Students outside the state of Michigan who wish to make a complaint may do so through the DU complaint process

If an issue or complaint is not resolved at the institutional level, a student may choose to contact the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity. A student can access the online form to submit a formal complaint to the Michigan Post Secondary School (MiPSS) Provider System for processing. Additional information about the student complaint process can be found in the student section of the NC-SARA website.

Residency and Change in Physical Presence:

Course and program availability vary by state. Admission into a program is dependent on program availability in the state where the student is physically located at the time of admission.

If a student moves to a different state after admission to the program, continuation within the program will depend on the availability of the program within the new state where the student is physically present. It is the student’s responsibility to notify the institution of a change in physical presence. Update your address by logging into your Student Connection.

Title IV Higher Education Act Notice | Change of State Residence – A student who changes their state of residence while enrolled in a program may become ineligible for Title IV Higher Education Act funding if the change in residency results in a student participating in a program in a state in which DU does not meet licensure or certification requirements in the that new state of residence.

For academic programs leading to licensure:

Participation in SARA has no effect on state professional licensing requirements. All licensed programs are approved for students who reside in Michigan or plan to seek employment in Michigan upon completion of the licensed program. NC-SARA does have several resources available to students who would like to do their own research. To assist with which agency to contact, students can refer here: https://nc-sara.org/professional-licensure and select Professional Licensure Directory. The directory information is maintained and updated twice annually by NC-SARA. It includes general contact information for agencies or boards responsible for licensure by state.

Currently, Davenport has several programs that lead to licensure. Please refer to the individual academic program pages for a list of states that meet the licensure requirements.
