Financial aid student checklist

Each year, you will need to review your financial aid. 

Undergraduate student checklist

  • Complete your FAFSA at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa

  • Check your requirements

    • Log into your Student Connections at davenport.edu and click ‘Requirements’ under the Financial Tools section

    • Documents can be securely returned to Financial Aid using the FA Document Upload feature on the website

  • Accepting/Declining loans

    • Davenport website

      • Log into your Student Connections at davenport.edu and click ‘Accept your Financial Aid’ under the Financial Tools section

      • Click the Self Service Banner link and login again

      • Using the drop down box, select your aid year (ex. 2019-2020) and click submit

      • Click on the ‘Accept Award Offer’ tab to review aid

      • In the drop down box next to each loan, click accept or decline for the whole amount.  To accept a partial amount, type in how much of the award you would like to receive in the Accept Partial Amount text box.  The amount you accept will be split evenly between the semesters that are awarded. Click submit decision. 

    • Department of Ed website

      • If you are accepting any portion of the federal loans, you must complete additional steps at studentaid.gov; Login with student FSA ID

      • Click ‘Complete Loan Counseling’, then ‘Start’ Entrance Counseling

      • Click ‘Complete Loan Agreement (MPN), then ‘Start’ MPN for Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loans

  • Search for other forms of aid

    • Institutional Aid

      • DU scholarships

      • DU tuition grants

    • Outside scholarships

      • General scholarships

    • Loan options

      • Parent Plus loan (for dependent students only)

        • Visit studentaid.gov and parent must log in with own FSA ID

        • Click ‘Apply for a Direct Plus Loan’

        • Click ‘Start’ for Direct Plus Loan Application for Parents

        • Be sure to complete an MPN if approved for loan

      • Private (Alternative) loans

  • FERPA - This document is required if you want Davenport to have permission to talk with anyone (including your parents) about your account

Log into your Student Connections at davenport.edu and click ‘Authorization to Release Educational Records (FERPA)’ under the Advising Tools section
