The Davenport University College of Technology is proudly designated by the National Security Agency (NSA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as one of only eight schools in Michigan to be recognized as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CDE). To add to these accomplishments, in 2015 the Department of Defense Cyber Crime Center recognized Davenport University as a Center of Digital Forensics Academic Excellence, making us one of only 13 institutions nationally to receive carry these designations.

An added dimension is the focus on business and communications skills that will enable graduates to understand and communicate in the business environment in order to apply effective solutions.

In addition to providing students with computer and technical skills, this program gives students a foundation in business and communications, enabling students to understand and communicate in the business environment in order to effectively apply networking solutions. The AS in Networking Technology will prepare students to install and upgrade hardware as well as configure workstation and server software. Our hands-on instruction and well-equipped labs provide instruction that is aligned with networking standards and vendor certifications from Microsoft, Cisco and CompT.

Designed to introduce students to topics ranging from algorithmic and applied theoretical foundations to cutting-edge developments in areas such as computer vision, artificial intelligence, modeling and simulation. Computer Science offers a comprehensive foundation that permits graduates to adapt to new technologies and new ideas while solving real world problems. Students will choose between three emerging specialties: Artificial Intelligence, Computer Architecture and Algorithms and Gaming and Simulation.

Cyber Defense provides the proactive and reactive knowledge and skills that encompass security in the technological environment. Students will learn to ensure appropriate treatment of risk, compliance, and assurance from internal and external perspectives and gain a greater understanding about the management of risk to organizational and individual information assets and the importance of building secure systems that protect the confidentiality, accessibility and integrity of those assets in today’s global environment. With an emphasis on how to best protect an organization’s information assets, topics will be covered from both the business and technology perspectives. Students will have a choice between two specialties: Information Assurance or Health Care Information Assurance.

In this program, you are provided with the knowledge and skills necessary to collect, process, preserve, analyze and present computer-related evidence. You will learn to use tools and techniques to recover and secure information from computer operating systems, file systems, networks and mobile devices. Whether it be in detecting fraud, finding and assessing network vulnerabilities, assisting in a criminal investigation or in counter-intelligence activities, the hands-on learning and solid theoretical knowledge provided in this program poise you to seize a variety of professional opportunities in multiple business, industry and government sectors.

Technology Project Management
Technology Project Management program is designed to prepare students for various management positions within the technology field. Course work integrates accounting, finance, production, computer networking, and CIS with in-depth project management practices. Industries examined include IT, health care, construction, manufacturing, service, and government. Students have the option of refining their focus by selecting specialty concentration options in Networking, Computer Information Systems (CIS), Information Security, Health Information Management, and Accounting Information Systems or creating an individualized specialty.

Data Analytics is used to analyze vast databases that must be examined using complex algorithms and artificial intelligence to identify previously unidentified useful sets of relationships and trends. The program is online and prepares individuals to conduct sophisticated analysis of existing data and create new data systems and methodologies. It is also designed to enable these individuals to make recommendations that increase effective use of data to help organizations meet specific goals and respond to new opportunities. The program uses industry standard software in practical applications directly related to current trends and issues that impact organizations across a broad spectrum. Course progression and content is carefully formulated to build competency in data analysis for students from a broad range of disciplines and experiences, including those who are new to the field.
