Davenport University is 1 of only 2 universities in Michigan, and 24 globally, that are accredited by the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA). We offer a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Sport Management, which develops strong skills in critical business areas of sports including accounting, marketing, economics, finance, IT and statistics. We expose you to the legal, regulatory, marketing and operational aspects of sport venue management. Your program also includes the critical areas of accounting, marketing, economics, finance, IT, business research and statistics in a learning environment that balances textbook theory with real-world sport business application. By building both theoretical knowledge and applied experience you are well-prepared for a career in the sports industry.
A BBA degree in Sport Management can be completed in-seat or online.

Internships and Career Opportunities

BBA Sport Management students will complete 6 internship credits resulting in 300 hours of real work sport management experience. Davenport's location (Grand Rapids, Michigan) was voted in the top 10 best minor league cities in America by Street and Smith's Sport Business Journal (2015). Professional minor league teams are just some of the great opportunities for internships and experiential learning right down the road from our main campus. COSMA logo. Commission on Sport Management Accreditation

In 2015 the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA) accredited our BBA in Sport Management degree at Davenport University. COSMA is a specialized accrediting body whose purpose is to promote and recognize excellence in sport management education worldwide in colleges and universities. COSMA reviews sport management programs and evaluates how well the program educates students and prepares them for a career in the sport management industry. Eligibility for COSMA includes having institutional accreditation, so the institutional issues such as financial viability and resources are also addressed.

Full Curriculum


Students gain skills in business fundamentals and specific sport management disciplines in a learning environment that balances textbook theory with real-world business application. Through varied learning methodologies, including an internship, students are exposed to the legal, regulatory, marketing and operational aspects of sport venue management. Graduates earn a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Sport Management.
