The purpose of nursing programs at Davenport University is to prepare students to advance in their nursing professions through the use of critical thinking, advanced assessment skills, communication, collaborating practices, applied research, self-directed learning, leadership and management skills, systems thinking, and professional development. 

Health Information Technology

This program prepares individuals to analyze, manage, and utilize patient care data and health information resources. Students in the program participate in the American Health Information Management Association’s Virtual Lab which provides students with a learning experience that uses state-of-the-art technology and software. Graduates will have an understanding of coding information for reimbursement and research, standards and regulations regarding health information and managing medical records and health care information.

Medical Assisting

The program is designed to prepare competent entry-level medical assistants in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains. Students are prepared in the basics of patient care, basic laboratory practices, and medical office procedures. In addition, students will have developed their interpersonal communication skills and acquired a foundation in both psychology and cultural diversity.

Health Information Management

This program possesses the expertise to develop, implement, and/or manage individual, aggregate and public healthcare data collection and reporting systems. These systems ensure the quality, integrity, availability, and preservation of healthcare data in support of patient safety and privacy, as well as the confidentiality and security of health information.

Health Services Administration

The Health Services Administration program prepares students for entry-level management positions in various healthcare settings or organizations. Specialties are designed to assist students needing or desiring a more focused area of interest. This degree prepares individuals interested in pursuing Davenport University’s MBA program.

Medical Case Management

This program is designed to prepare the individuals who are interested in entering or advancing in the area of medical case management. Students will learn the components of case management including assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating the care of a client across the continuum of care.

Occupational Therapy

Davenport University is dedicated to preparing occupational therapists and teaching students to become skilled and effective in delivering services to diverse individuals and populations in a variety of practice settings. 

Health Care Management

The Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Management is designed for working healthcare professionals who want to enhance their proficiency and leadership skills in the healthcare management field. The certificate program is a 12 credit hour (15 if prerequisite courses are needed) and can be completed in one year.  The curriculum introduces students to concepts in strategic management, ethical and legal principles, financial concerns, and an option to explore medical practice management or information management in healthcare.
